Southampton at the semifinals for the Cup

Southampton qualified for the English Cup semifinals. The  Saints won with a 2:0 win over Wigan on Mark Hughes`s debut as a team manager. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg opened the score after just over an hour`s play, and a little earlier Christian Walton had saved his head.

Wigan goalkeeper made an excellent rescue of a penalty shot by Manolo Gabiadi after Dan Burn had dropped the striker. Cedric Soares scored at the very end of the game to make the final by contact with live video stream 0:2. Shortly before the attack, Paul Cook`s team was close to leveling, but Jack Stevens`s shot with his head went over the door. Gabiadini could also be scored in the second half after Nathan Burn`s mistake. Before the break, Wigan dominated and missed several good opportunities. Thus, Mark Hughes has begun his Southampton career, which will be playing in the semifinals for the first time since 2003. The m ain goal for Hughes, however, is staying in the Premier League.
