Cristiano Ronaldo is the expected new winner of the Golden Ball. He won the award for the fourth time, having lagged with one Golden Ball behind his great rival Leo Messi.
Ronaldo won the Champions League with Real Madrid and the European title with the national team of Portugal.
Ronaldo won the award in 2008 with Manchester United, in 2013, 2014, and now with Real Madrid.
`Again, my dream became reality. I have never imagined that I could win the trophy four times. I am really happy.`, said Ronaldo after the announcement of the prize.
This year, `France football` and FIFA again split the questionnaires, as there will be two separate ones.
The votes in the poll were given by 173 journalists from all over Europe. With 745 points Ronaldo overtook his competitors significantly.
The second one remains his big competitor Leo Messi from Barca, and the third one is Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.
