FIFA is investigating a member of the Ethical Committee

The member of the Ethics Committee of the FIFA, the Uruguayan Attorney Juan Pedro Damiani, is the subject of an internal investigation for links with corruption charges his compatriot Eugenio Figeredo, reports the BBC.
Figeredo, a former Vice President of the football organization, was one of those arrested in Zurich in the course of American corruption investigation into FIFA last year. He was charged with fraud and money laundering and was extradited to his homeland, where he is also wanted for similar crimes.
Damian and his firm provided legal aid to at least seven offshore companies linked to Figeredo. This information came to light after the expiry of the huge volume of documents of the law firm `Mosak Fonseca`, specialized in the creation of offshore companies.
`Panama documents` do not show illegal acts by Damian or his firm.
A spokesman for the Ethics Committee to FIFA, however, confirmed that the President Hans-Joachim Eckert reported `findings for business relations between Damiani and Figeredo`.
Damian participates in a study of all major cases of violations of ethical standards in football from July 2012.
