Djokovic against Wawrinka at the quarterfinals in Cincinnati

Novak Djokovic did well with David Goffin and ensured for himself a clash with Stan Wawrinka at the quarterfinals of the "Masters 1000" tournament in Cincinnati. This will be the 22nd duel between the Serbian and the Swiss and their first after the final of "Roland Garros" in the beginning of the summer.

Djokovic beat the 13th seeded Goffin with 6:4, 2:6, 6:3 and continues the attack to become the first player who has triumphed at all 9 tournament "Masters 1000" series. The world No1 ended the match with 18 winners blow to his account.

"He played very hard and deserved admiration. He always made me to do another one and another blow. I`ve had a luck that I managed to get on feet and to went out of the hole in which I had fallen. I will try to extract positives from this match, "said Djokovic.

Earlier in the same day Wawrinka survived in a crazy shootout with Ivo Karlovic and won with 6:7 (2), 7:6 (5), 7:6 (5) after two hours and 37 minutes. The Swiss managed to get the victory despite the 35 aces of his opponent. Throughout the game adviced by soccer advices there was no a breakthrough.

Despite the defeat,on Monday Ivo Karlovic will return to the elite top 20 for the first time since October 2008. With his 36 years and 5 months, Karlovic will be the oldest representative of the Top 20 after Jimmy Connors (37 years) in February 1990.
